# Adding text to a dashboard in DataLens On-premises

To add [text](../../dashboard/widget.md#text) to a dashboard:


1. If you do not have a dashboard, [create one](create.md).
1. At the top of the page, click **Edit**.
1. In the panel at the bottom of the page, click <!-- diplodoc:svg ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/text-align-left.svg) --><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="16" height="16" fill="none" viewBox="0 0 16 16"><path fill="currentColor" fill-rule="evenodd" d="M2.75 2a.75.75 0 0 0 0 1.5h10.5a.75.75 0 0 0 0-1.5zm0 7a.75.75 0 0 0 0 1.5h10.5a.75.75 0 0 0 0-1.5zm0 3.5a.75.75 0 0 0 0 1.5h6.5a.75.75 0 0 0 0-1.5zM2 6.25a.75.75 0 0 1 .75-.75h6.5a.75.75 0 0 1 0 1.5h-6.5A.75.75 0 0 1 2 6.25" clip-rule="evenodd"/></svg> **Text** and drag it where you want it to be.

1. Configure your widget:

   * Enter the text of your link, clarifying caption, etc. The widget supports [Markdown](../../dashboard/markdown.md).

   
   * Optionally, set a background.


1. Click **Add**. The widget will appear on the dashboard.
